10. Leg Pain
Women diagnosed with cervical cancer often experience swelling and pain in their legs. When cancer spreads, it obstructs blood flow, which causes swelling in the legs. Swollen legs often create a sore, painful sensation, making it hard to carry out your day-to-day activities.
When caused by cervical cancer, the pain tends to be constant and increases in intensity over time. At times, there also may be back pain.
Preventive Tips
- Women between 20 and 30 years old should get a screening every 3 years. Those 30 to 65 years old should be screened every 3 to 5 years.
- Get an HPV vaccination before your early 20s.
- Quit smoking and avoid secondhand smoke.
- Take the right steps to prevent STDs. This will help reduce your risk of cervical cancer.
